3 October
Also known as the Mid-autumn Festival, which falls on the 15th day of the eighth Chinese Lunar Calendar, it is a historical rather than a religious celebration. It marks the successful rebellion against the Mongol ruler back in 14th century China. Legend has it that secret plans to overthrow the Mongols were hidden inside mooncakes, which were widely distributed. Lanterns were used at night as signals from higher grounds and hilltop. Today, this festival is celebrated with delicious mooncakes and colourful lanterns, with processions, competitions and other fun activities. Celebrate the customary festival with a feast of divine mooncakes at West Lake Garden Chinese Restaurant in Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa.
